Portsmouth Philharmonic back in business!

The Portsmouth Philharmonic is delighted to announce it will be resuming rehearsals from September 2021.

After the cancellation of its last scheduled concert in March 2020, due to the pandemic, the orchestra has been in hibernation.

With restrictions now eased, the orchestra is picking up where it left off and, under the guidance of conductor Hugh Carpenter, the orchestra will rehearse again on Sunday September 5.

A concert in spring 2022 has been pencilled in, with further details to follow, but for orchestra Chair Di Lloyd the important thing is to simply be playing again.

"It has been difficult for everyone not being able to play together. While small groups have used the opportunity, where they can, to play with one another, there is nothing like getting the full orchestra together. Everyone is really looking forward to it," she said.

The orchestra has put in a number of Covid-19 protocols for rehearsals to keep everyone as safe as possible.
