Concert raises £575 for Aurora New Dawn

The latest concert by the Portsmouth Philharmonic raised £575 for Aurora New Dawn and was attended by the Lord Mayor and the Lady Mayoress of Portsmouth, whose chosen charity was the beneficiary.

Featuring soloist Karen Travers, who performed Hayden's Trumpet Concerto, the programme also included Mozart's Don Giovanni's Overture and Dvorak's Eighth Symphony. A gallery of photos from the concert is available here

Orchestra Chair Di Lloyd said: "The Dvorak was one of the more challenging pieces the orchestra has played and we were delighted with how we performed. Karen was fantastic in her solo role in the Haydn.

“Aurora New Dawn was a great charity to back in the work it does supporting those whose lives are affected by domestic violence and we were really pleased to have the support of the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress once again.”

The orchestra's next outing is a concert to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III on May 27 at St Faith's Church, Lee-on-the-Solent. Details of ticket sales are available here.
